Screw you NIMBYS

I hate NIMBYs, I utterly loathe them.

I loathe them and their lies, their deceit, their short sighted approach to the world, and their selfish nature. They are costing people jobs and lives, and we should simply stop listening to the useless sods.

That (IMHO) useless Milliband has motioned that that useless Balls is going to make a decision about HS2 if they get elected. If you elect them, you really have fallen for the "free money for everybody," bollocks that Labour always throw around...And again, for that you must die you simpleton.

Right now, the West Coast, Midland and East Coast Mainlines are either full or approaching capacity. The UK has seen year on year increases in the demand for rail. We need more room for freight, and we need more room for commuters. We cannot accommodate them on the Victorian network we have now. No amount of expansion will work, because we have tried that and it failed. I could link yards of evidence, I could link models showing how trains running at the same speed = increased capacity. I could link case studies of redevelopment from 'less developed' countries than us that show an improved economy in cities that have been connected to High Speed Rail. But I won't. It's too much effort to do, in the knowledge that like religious zealots, antis will not read it. They have already formed their own pathetic and false conclusion that HS2 is about getting rich businessmen to London 20 minutes quicker...Or is about friends of the Tories getting massive construction contracts.

Antis, NIMBYS call them what you will, I am sick of them and so will simply call them deluded thick fools with heads filled with utter bullcrap who are selfishly denying progress to future generations. I loathe them for this.

Years of disruption on the WCML lead to a shed load of cash out the door, and very little improvement in capacity because slow freight, stopping commuters and high speed intercity trains simply do not mix. Right that's your lot. Time to ladle on the abuse some more.

Antis like to point out that the pro' campaigners are worried, as though being worried implies you've lost the debate. Yes we worry...We worry about the antis because hearts rule heads in many cases. Human beings are very often ill informed, and listen to those who shout the loudest, rather than those who put forward a factually robust case that is outlined in a calm and rational manner.

HS2 is a good thing for the nation, there is no doubt about that. The fact that there are people who would be uncomfortable about this statement demonstrates instantly that human beings listen to the shouts over the logic.

Antis stand in the way of progress. They limit the opportunities and life choices of future generations, and yet award themselves the right to be smug about their actions. They think they are fighting an evil, and yet cling to bullcrap arguments like "It's easier to widen the WCML!" or "It will cost £80bn!" They haven't got a clue, and yet their ignorance, selfishness and closed thinking could cost this country billions in investment, jobs, lives...

The latter point is contentious but suicide often occurs in young males because they feel they have no prospects and thus feel useless. Screwing the Norths chances of connecting to the jobs and prospects created by the global marketplace that is London (and remember, improving commuter services into London, freight links across the UK etc) because of your 'wrong' ideology, is insulting and dangerous.

I loathe anti's. I have loathed them ever since I saw Swampys smug face on HIGNFY.

Get some facts down you and I might listen. Cling to selfish ignorance, and you deserve only ridicule.

"But...but...but...it's my opinion!"

Yes, and your opinion is dogturd. Get over it and move on. Or just die already, I'm sick of hearing your wrong opinions and your wrong lives offend me.

If you fancy putting a spoke in the works of NIMBY pricks, do what I do. You know all these NIMBY prick websites have a little share button that lets you tell the department of transport how you feel. Well click on it, and then point out that NIMBY pricks need gassing.

HS2 Again

So, the government has published the first details of the northern extension of HS2, and the predictable arsehole NIMBYs are already out trying to overturn something they know nothing about.

Now, the BBC as an unbiased and balanced broadcaster, is duty bound to present both sides of the fence...However, this approach means that no nothing idiots and their baseless ideas are given an air of credibility because they have been on the BBC. What should happen is, if your point of view differs, but is factually incorrect and/or mislead, you should be laughed off of the BBC...And shot (under my regime).

Let us have a look at the anti-HS2 bullshit claims postulated by these absolute morons. Now, I know people are supposed to have reasoned debate and agree to disagree, but I disagree with that sentiment. I feel that by allowing everybody believe their opinion is of equal weight and merit, you encourage dickheads to open their mouth and cost the taxpayer billions in wasted effort and legal battles. You also have to listen to these people without having the right to demand they be vanned into the fens and disposed of in a ditch. I digress...time to direct my disbelief and venom at the airheads of Stop HS2 et al.

Many of these *cough* bullshit *cough* facts can be viewed here.

We operate a hundred+ year old railway network, that has been botched and cobbled together...It works, but is approaching capacity. Apparently, you can improve the network today for £2bn...Really? Do you remember the recent upgrade of the WCML that failed to deliver, and disrupted travel for about 10 years? Imagine this happening again....Go on...Years of disruption, service stoppages, weekend possessions  a bodge job, a half measure. HS2 would be a new build, allowing the WCML to run freely in the interim construction period. Plus there would be a new diversion route for maintenance, redundancy in the network is always good...Witness what happens when somebody tops themselves on the line, and everybody is stuck in London for hours. With two routes, duplicating the ECML and WCML, you're sorted for alternatives.

What 'stop HS2' (no caps, fuck 'em) fail to realise when they come out with their tired old socialist shit about the line only benefiting businessmen etc, is that building HS2 frees up oodles of space on the WCML (and to a lesser extent the MML and ECML) to provide for slower freight and stopping passenger services. These will benefit local communities AND take trucks off of the motorways, an environmental benefit surely since slow moving freight is a pain in the ass on the motorways what with trucks elephant racing. The DfT's rail package 2 does not deliver all the benefits of HS2...It just doesn't, stop deluding yourselves.

The benefits will also flow to London, according to stop HS2...Really? Ever heard of the suburbs? They are large areas of land that were covered in houses and shops (I'll talk to you like an idiot if you think like one), mainly in the 30s, as a result in the growth  of rapid transport connecting those places to London. Compare Watford in the 30s with Watford today (there are numerous other examples)...You'll find that Watford is much bigger and more prosperous than it was in the 30s because its population can travel into London for work. If people choose to live in Birmingham and commute to London then great, those people who live in Birmingham will have more pennies in their pocket to spend IN Birmingham, hence leading to a growth in the commercial and services sector that provide for those people. There will be benefit. Likewise connecting cities to Birmingham will open further opportunities for the regional hinterland to trade together...Not to mention the increased ability to pump railfreight back and forth down the traditional network.

It is pointed out that more people will travel if HS2 is built = bad for the environment m'kay...You know what? Fuck you. People need to travel to work, in order to grow and prosper...If you're a comfortably well off middle class NIMBY who has achieved a certain level of success in your life, then who are you to deny millions of other people the chance to climb the ladder like you have. Fuck you you selfish dicks. I hope you choke in your retirement and stop draining the tax pot for the rest of us.

NIMBYs also like to point to HS1 as an example of a failed project...Any system can be considered a failure if only part of it is built. HS1 will become more valuable once plumbed into Crossrail, HS2, (potential CR2 and HS3)...I am reminded of how anti-roads dickbags fuck up road improvement schemes, and then use the resultant over budget half measure as 'proof' that road building is flawed and expensive. It is, if you sabotage it...If you bump the cost up by using the tactics published in your road protest handbook, to enforce expensive judicial reviews (lots of money for you NIMBY dickbags parents i.e. lawyers) and then make it miss its planning window so the work has to be repeated and incorporate new standards at extra cost to the taxpayer etc then of course it will be seen as a waste of money. The cost is the fault of the protesters  not the engineers and professionals or government.

Frankly, I am sick of interest groups holding the taxpayer to ransom. Interest groups that exploit the inability of people who are 'pro' something to get off their arse and protest 'for' something. It's human nature to scream and shout against something, but do nothing if you support something. Dickbag protestors shouldn't take this silence as support, because it isn't. I imagine millions of people are chuffed to see the government getting of their backsides and planning long term. In cohorts with the electric spine and the Great Western Mainline being improved etc, I am happy to see progress...And I dislike people who intend to fuck it up on the basis of half truths and prejudice.

You are welcome to disagree, but I'll just 'know' you are a prick if you do, and not worth my energy. You are not entitled to your opinion you arse goblin.

HS2. A necessary evil

I am not surprised that so many people are against HS2...Because people are, on the whole, ignorant of the wider world outside their limited sphere.

If you look at the comments on the beeb's have your say bit, it is quite clear to me that the majority of people commenting believe that the project is 'only' about the following and hence should be opposed:-
a) It makes it 20 minutes quicker to Birmingham
b) It costs £32bn right now
c) It will only benefit businessmen who got us into the mess etc
d) It will wreck the Chilterns

They choose to ignore that it is plonking passengers onto a high-speed line in order to free up the WCML corridor for freight and stopping services that serve MK etc. Freight traffic that will bring economic and environmental benefits such as taking lorrys off of the motorways and reducing wasted emissions from traffic congestion...Plus a train pulling 30 odd containers is more economic than 30 trucks.

The negative naysayers choose to ignore the fact that the UK is in competition globally for inward investment and without a robust infrastructure, risks being bypassed in favour of countries that grasp the nettle and don't wish to be seen as museum nations.

They choose to ignore the very real benefits of linking one of the worlds greatest cities to its UK hinterland, in order to share the wealth more fairly throughout the UK. If you bring Birmingham within an acceptable commuting time to London then you will drastically change the prospects of the West-Midlands. Sub 1 hour on a train, centre to centre, would be brilliant.

As it is, many of the sheeple repeat only what scare stories they read about or see on the news...They lack the cognitive ability to independently investigate and come to a reasoned conclusion. Hence minority views are whipped up into a self fulfilling feeding frenzy. Witness the minority that brought roads to prosperity to an end because they opposed linking Southampton Docks to the wider world with something more than a congested old dual-carriageway and/or a crawl through a congested town centre.

During this last round of environmental protest, the media even chose to elevate a protester from the ranks and parade him in front of the cameras. Just think of the further damage to the prosperity to this country if the person they chose was actually able to be funny on his one and only Have I got News for You appearance.

Goods sat in traffic = a loss to the economy that the consumer bares whether directly or indirectly. When put like that I think most of the 'Brighthouse' wonders would baulk at the cost of relying on our ageing and congested infrastructure if they saw just how many £s it added onto the cost of their fags and flatscreen TVs.
